JACK (THE COCKATOO)
Jack’s role at the Spa For Pets is to keep staff on their toes. Always willing to loudly express his opinions, he never lets anyone forget his presence. Jack can often be seen (and heard) playing on the floor of the grooming room with the small dogs. Another role for Jack is keeping the school kids entertained with his antics through the Spa window! |
Janet Alexander Thompson, Co-Owner
Janet comes to the Spa with a lengthy history of working with animals. Prior to taking over the Spa, she served as the Director of Operations for the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley (WCSV) for six years, overseeing all aspects of the nonprofit from fundraising to public relations, helping it to grow into a self-sustaining organization that rehabilitates nearly 5,000 animals a year. She is a founding member of WCSV and has served on its Board of Directors prior to her employment and currently serves as President.
Before joining the staff at WCSV, Janet was with the Humane Society Silicon Valley for 11 years, most recently as the Shelter Operations Manager. During her Humane Society tenure, she developed the Special Needs Department, which comprised foster care, breed rescue, wildlife, and exotic animal programs.
Janet has been a member of the San Jose Animal Advisory Committee for ten years and served on the Santa Clara County Animal Advisory Commission for two terms, providing guidance and consultation to our elected city and county officials.
Marcus Stephen Thompson, Co-Owner
Although Marcus doesn’t have any professional animal experience on his résumé, it was in large part due to his affection for and knowledge of animals that he met (and later married) Janet. He has worked for the better part of two decades in the high-tech field, as well as a professional whitewater river-rafting tour guide for many years. He thoroughly enjoys providing pet-sitting and dog-walking services to our clients.
Janet and Marcus have a home in nearby Campbell, which they share with three dogs, two cats (four are ‘rescues’), and a macaw. The dogs and Crazybird (CB for short) often join the other staff members’ animals at work (since one of the perks of working with animals is that you get to bring your own with you to work).
Tina, Grooming Services Manager
With over 23 years under her belt, Tina, our certified Master Groomer, can transform even the scruffiest looking dog into a work of art! Breaking into the grooming world when she started as a bather in 1988, she has really “mastered” her trade. Her diverse skills are evident each time one of her charges leaves, freshly coiffed and artfully cut.
Tina lives with her dogs, cats, and other small animals. When not working, she enjoys kickboxing and wrestling.
Aditi, Office Admin
Originally one of our bathers, Aditi has become a welcomed part of our front office, checking clients in and out and keeping the office well organized.
She recently was accepted to the nursing program at San Jose State and, aspires to someday work with people in that capacity.
IInessia, Groomer and Office Admin
Inessia came to SFP because of her love of working with animals. She received her cosmetology degree, but soon after decided that she’d rather work on furry animals instead of the human variety! She recently cross-trained in the front office and helps fill in when needed.
She loves hiking, painting and anything that uses her artistic talents. In her spare time, Ness does make-up and modeling gigs and greatly enjoys spending time with her family. She lives with her best (dog) friend, a Chihuahua, Elmo.
Mike, Groomer
Mike comes to SFP with lots of animal experience, having previously worked at a veterinary hospital. He enjoys grooming dogs (and even cats) and has a natural affinity with animals.
Mike lives with his three rescue dogs, Max, Milo, and Roxy. When not grooming dogs, Mike enjoys working on cars, and hanging out at the dog park with his pack!
Mindy, Office Manager
With a special love and talent for handling animals, Mindy began as a contract pet sitter for the Spa in 1998 while juggling the raising of her three children. Soon thereafter, she took over management of cat boarding for the business. Eventually, her job broadened into a position managing the office. Today with 13 years behind her, she is oftentimes the first point of contact for clients, overseeing scheduling, pet sitting, boarding and many other tasks.
Mindy and Jamie, her Cavalier King Charles pup, and Puggle, Matey, enjoy visits to the beach and walking the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Mindy is an amateur photographer who loves to capture moments in time digitally.
Josh, Bather
Josh has a way with animals and it shows. He has a calm demeanor, which is a tremendous help when working with dogs who don’t necessarily enjoy their Spa experience.
Josh loves his music, and can play bass guitar, drums and the didgeridoo (an Australian wind instrument), loves reading and hiking. He lives in the mountains with his rescued Chug (Chihuahua/pug), affectionately called the Chi-Monkey, Bug and his pug, Smoosh.
Bryant, Bather
Bryant is the most recent addition to our team. He loves animals, and keeps our staff laughing with his antics. When not bathing dogs, you can usually find Bryant in the kitchen searching for his next meal!
He is currently in college and aspires to become a chiropractor. He loves all sports, especially basketball and football, and excels at computer games and is quite the movie buff!

PETEY (THE CAT)
A lynx-point part Siamese cat, Petey came to live with us when his adoptive mother took ill and could no longer care for him. Petey helps to meet and greet our clients at the front desk or can be found sleeping in the sunny window tree when not on desk duty. He is beautiful, friendly, outgoing, and a welcome addition to our business. |
